SecureWeb BHO is a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) that is designed to deliver advertisements to affected Web browsers. SecureWeb BHO is installed as a BHO (Browser Helper Object). SecureWeb BHO may be downloaded and installed automatically. SecureWeb BHO also may be installed as a Web browser plug-in, add-on, extension or another type of helper object. SecureWeb BHO runs in the background, consuming system resources, and has been known to make unwanted changes to the affected computer's settings. SecureWeb BHO is not threatening, despite the fact that SecureWeb BHO is frequently referred to as 'SecureWeb BHO Virus' or with similar terms. The reason SecureWeb BHO may be referred to this way is because this PUP has been associated with a wide variety of symptoms that may be linked to known threats. SecureWeb BHO may be linked to low-quality search engines and unwanted online content, as well as to pop-up windows and advertisements related to known online hoaxes. If SecureWeb BHO is installed on your Web browser, it should be removed right away.
The Main Objective of SecureWeb BHO is not Provide Any Help
SecureWeb BHO is a Web browser add-on, often referred to as a 'Browser Helper Object.' SecureWeb BHO may be bundled with other software and installed automatically or by using misleading language to convince computer users to allow the installation of SecureWeb BHO. The main purpose of SecureWeb BHO is to generate revenue from advertising by displaying advertisements, coupons, and questionable deals on certain products on your Web browser. Although advertisements are not a bad thing when browsing the Web, SecureWeb BHO may add additional advertisements to your Web browser, displaying them constantly and interrupting your activities.
One issue associated with SecureWeb BHO is that this PUP may make changes to your Web browser settings. SecureWeb BHO may change your Web browser's default search engine and it's homepage. SecureWeb BHO also may disable the Web browser's feature that allows computer users to disable BHOs like SecureWeb BHO. The most common target of SecureWeb BHO attacks is Internet Explorer, although SecureWeb BHO may affect other Web browsers (including Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox).
As part of the problems related to SecureWeb BHO, this PUP may display targeted advertisements that use data gathered from monitoring the activities on the affected Web browser to deliver specific content. For example, if the computer user has made an online search for a flight to New York City, SecureWeb BHO may start displaying advertisements related to hotels in New York City as well as for budget airlines.
How SecureWeb BHO may Enter a Computer and Cause Problems
In most cases, computer users do not install SecureWeb BHO with the knowledge of what SecureWeb BHO is. Rather, SecureWeb BHO may be bundled with other software by using bundlers and download managers. After a program is installed, computer users may not notice that SecureWeb BHO has been included in its installation. SecureWeb BHO has been linked to numerous other PUPs as well as other low-level threats such as adware and browser hijackers. Common sources for SecureWeb BHO may include peer-to-peer file sharing networks, websites used to distribute free software, and low-quality Web pages containing pirated content or suspicious advertisements. SecureWeb BHO may be associated with performance issues on affected Web browsers. If SecureWeb BHO is installed on your Web browser, it is common for your Web browser to become slower than normal or prone to crashing or freezing. To stop these types of problems, SecureWeb BHO should be uninstalled as soon as possible.
