Search.chatzum.com is a search engine that has been linked to various browser hijackers. Search.chatzum.com’s interface is designed to plagiarize the iconic Google homepage. Although Search.chatzum.com does not use the Google logo, the layout and design of the page is identical to the well-known search engine. Search.chatzum.com also uses a peculiar mosaic-like logo that could easily be mistaken for one of Google’s novelty logos used on special occasions. Although it has not been confirmed whether Search.chatzum.com itself contains malware, most computer users visiting Search.chatzum.com will do so because their computer has become infected.

Setting up search engines like Search.chatzum.com is a common online scam. The ways in which scammers lure computer users to these kinds of websites vary from those that are mainly harmless – for example, typo-squatting, which is the practice of setting up domains that take advantage of common typos when typing in a URL – to practices that are actively malicious. Unfortunately, Search.chatzum.com has been linked to browser hijackers. Worst of all, the particular browser hijackers used by the people responsible for Search.chatzum.com are among the most malicious and difficult to remove, considering that they will usually include a rootkit component.

The main symptom of malware associated with Search.chatzum.com is erratic and unpredictable behavior in your web browser. ESG malware analysts list the following symptoms as common parts of a browser hijacker:
