RealClean

Since 2010, users from all around the world have become infected with a variety of rogue security programs from Korea. Every few weeks, a new version of RealClean is identified by PC security researchers. The hackers behind RealClean and its clones generate new versions to make difficult a positive identification of this rogue security program. Examples of rogue anti-spyware programs that are no more than clones of RealClean include OneScan, InfoScan, InfoCleaner, EnPrivacy, PCTrouble, and MyVaccine. Some websites closely associated with RealClean and its clones include infocleannet.co.kr, myboan.co.kr, info-scan.co.kr, myvaccine.co.kr, infocleaner.co.kr, myprotect.co.kr, realclean.co.kr, and one-scan.co.kr. If you have visited any unsafe Korean websites, or are receiving notifications from RealClean or any of its clones, our ESG malware researchers strongly recommend starting up Windows in Safe Mode and using a genuine anti-malware program to remove these unwanted intruders.

Some of the Effects RealClean Can Have on a Computer System

The effects of RealClean and its clones are not especially unique. According to ESG security researchers, RealClean and its clones act in typical rogueware fashion. These fake security programs first cause a large number of severe problems on a computer system, and then continuously push the computer user into paying for a 'full version' of RealClean. Typical effects of RealClean on a computer, include altered Internet browser settings, altered system settings, constant pop-up alerts, constant error messages, general system instability, decreased system performance, and error messages when trying to launch executable files and genuine security software.

Recovering from a RealClean Infection

The danger of RealClean infection resides in that roguesecurity programs like RealClean will almost never attack alone. They will often use a Trojan, like Zlob, to infiltrate and install themselves on a computer. They will also use a collection of Trojans and harmful scripts to alter your computer's settings and allow themselves to update and reinstall in case they are removed manually. Even worse, the unsafe websites where a computer user may pick up a RealClean infection will often be teeming with all kinds of malware, which is just as easy to pick up. Even visiting any of the websites mentioned before is enough to become infected with RealClean or other malware. If you suspect that your computer has been exposed to RealClean or its clones, ESG team of security researchers strongly recommend that you run an in-depth scan of your computer system.
