ProtectDefender or Protect Defender, is a rogue anti-spyware application that is known to be associated with the WinPC Defender family of rogue security programs. ProtectDefender, through the use of several deceiving tactics, may entice purchase of a full version of ProtectDefender. These malicious actions include bogus warning messages and fake system scan results uses to make computer users believe that they have parasites installed on their system that a purchased version of ProtectDefender can remove. Contrary to that notion, ProtectDefender does not have the ability to detect or remove any type of malware, spyware or virus. It is suggested that computer users avoid use of ProtectDefender and remove it immediately after detection. Damages may occur from the ProtectDefender application that causes the affected system to run slowly or become unstable.
Other members of the ProtectDefender family include WinPC Defender, SystemDefender, IE Defender, IE Defender, XPdefender, WinDefender2008, PC Privacy Defender, Malware Defender 2009, Smart Defender Pro, Ultimate Defender, Advanced XP Defender, Security Defender Pro 2015.
