Media Search App is another program within the Ask.com Partner Network (APN, LLC for short) that aims to promote the service on Ask.com. Media Search App travels bundled with free programs from third parties and may be accompanied by adware like DealGrabbers. The Media Search App will change your home page to a customized version of Ask.com that is optimized to search for content on video sharing services like Vimeo, Dailymotion, and YouTube. Media Search App is very similar to Sale-o and FreeDealsApp by WebPick Internet Holdings Ltd. and might show ads in your Internet browser. The Media Search App is deemed as PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) because it will modify your Windows Registry and browser settings to direct you to use only the services of Ask.com. Moreover, Media Search App might show banners, pop-up windows and ad-boxes on non-affiliated pages that you visit. It might load video commercials from sponsors when you watch and share video online. Security researchers note that Media Search App will use session cookies and DOM storage data to optimize its related offers and may cover your browser surface with promotions. Media Search App may use pop-up windows to attract the attention of users and suggest them to install software like Movies Toolbar and Linkury Smartbar that have a bad reputation and may cause your Internet browser to crash. Computer users should take into consideration that the ads by Media Search App may not be safe, and you could click on links that would take you to harmful websites. Therefore, you might want to use a credible anti-spyware instrument to remove all files related to Media Search App on your PC.
