Computer users that prefer to use Google as their primary search provider may be surprised to find out that their homepage and search settings are altered to Hightsearch.com after installing a free program. Moreover, the Hightsearch.com page resembles the color palette of Google and features an embedded modified Google engine. Some users may think that Google has changed its logo and continue to use the HightSearch.com portal. However, you should note that the Hightsearch.com site is not associated with Google and is used by the HightSearch browser tool to provide 'extended' search functionality. You may have installed the HightSearch browser tool along with free software like GoforFiles and A2ZLyrics. Security researchers recognize the HightSearch program to be a browser hijacker that is used to record the user's input on Hightsearch.com and generate advertisements on your screen, which are related to your search terms.
Your search keywords may be sent to marketers for market development purposes, and you may see ads by Hightsearch.com while you shop at Amazon, Best Buy and eBay. Additionally, the custom version of Google that is provided at Hightsearch.com does not provide search results from video sharing platforms, and users are equipped with links to choose from only. The HightSearch browser hijacker may prevent users from opening the original Google page, and access other search providers like Yahoo, Bing and DuckDuckGo. Resetting your browser is not likely to clean it, and you may be redirected to Hightsearch.com when you type in the search bar, the URL field, and the Omnibox.
