HD-VV

HD-VV is an adware infection. HD-VV is specifically designed to allow marketers to profit at the expense of computer users. HD-VV is distributed in two known executable files named hd-v2.2v07.10-codedownloader.exe and HD-V2.2V07.10.exe if created by Laroste Apps, a known adware developer. HD-VV may be detected as adware by various anti-malware programs. There are several reasons why HD-VV is considered adware. HD-VV is designed to display numerous advertisements on affected Web browsers and force computer users to view advertisements repeatedly through Web browser redirects, pop-up windows and other tactics.

Characteristics of a HD-VV Adware Infection

HD-VV may make unwanted changes to the Windows Task Scheduler that allows HD-VV to run automatically as soon as computer users log into Windows. HD-VV is designed to connect to a remote server in order to download additional components and collected information. This means that HD-VV establishes a connection to a remote server. The content downloaded may run various Java scripts that allow HD-VV to monetize its presence on the victim's Web browser. HD-VV is part of a group of Web browser add-ons and extensions known as Brightcircle. These types of Web browser add-ons that may be regarded as Potentially Unwanted Programs are designed to inject advertisements into affected Web browsers and may be associated with various other symptoms on affected computers.

Why HD-VV may not be Detected by Certain Security Programs

HD-VV is signed by Laroste Apps, which has been known for developing these types of PUPs before. Malware analysts have tested HD-VV and have come to the conclusion that HD-VV may present an adware threat. However, not all security programs are capable of detecting PUPs. Unfortunately, since most anti-virus applications are designed for dealing with threatening software that presents a greater threat, PUPs may not be detected or removed by many mainstream security programs. However, PUPs do represent a threat to the computer security and to privacy, despite being substantially less destructive or difficult to remove than most threats. Because of this, PC security analysts strongly advise computer users to ensure that their security software is capable of detecting PUPs such as adware, browser hijackers and other potentially unwanted programs.

How HD-VV and Other PUPs may Harm Your Machine

There are several problems associated with HD-VV. However, the main complaint that malware researchers have received in regards to HD-VV is that HD-VV may change the affected Web browser's home page and default search engine automatically. HD-VV also may make unwanted changes to the affected Web browser's settings that allow HD-VV to display numerous types of advertisements. HD-VV may cause the affected Web browser to display pop-up advertisements, redirect the affected computer user to websites containing unwanted advertising content and insert banner advertisements, in-text advertisements, and other advertisements to websites viewed on the affected Web browser.

HD-VV may affect the most popular Web browsers, including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. HD-VV may connect the Internet to download files to the affected computer and receive instructions and other data from a remote server. One additional issue with HD-VV is that this PUP is not limited to your Web browser. HD-VV may cause performance issues on affected computers and may make changes to certain system settings. In most cases, HD-VV may be installed by bundling HD-VV with downloaded software from questionable websites. Because of this, HD-VV may be avoided by taking extra care when installing new software and making sure to opt out of any bundled software that may be included in the download.
