The Elite Web Tool browser extension by Aztec Media Inc. is promoted as a free-to-use and free-to-install extension for Web browsers like Google Chrome. The Elite Web Tool browser extension by Aztec Media Inc. does not appear to have a public page on the Chrome Web Store and alternative platforms for Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. Reports from users suggest that the Elite Web Tool app is promoted via the 'Add Extension' pop-ups campaign where users are forced to install low-quality extensions with series of pop-ups and audio commercials. When you install the Elite Web Tool extension, it will request access to read and change the data you exchange with the sites you visit. That allows Elite Web Tool to alter the way your browser renders pages.
The Elite Web Tool extension is classified as a browser hijacker that changes the function of the Omnibar, the address bar and the search bar so that the user is redirected to betteresults[.]net, then to blpsearch[.]com, and finally to search.yahoo[.]com. The idea is that the redirections allow the owners of betteresults[.]net and blpsearch[.]com make money from rerouting users to search.yahoo[.]com. Targeted ads might be displayed thanks to the data gathered by the Elite Web Tool. The Elite Web Tool browser hijacker is programmed to read information like your browser history and record your input on blpsearch[.]com to help advertisers at search.yahoo[.]com show related commercials. The Elite Web Tool app may attempt to disable third-party tools like the uBlock Origin and the Adblock Plus if you have them installed. The Elite Web Tool browser hijacker may not be listed might not be listed in the Extensions/Add-ons Manager of your Internet client.
