EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecard
EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards are assessment reports for different malware threats which have been collected and analyzed by our research team. EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards evaluate and rank threats using several metrics including real-world and potential risk factors, trends, frequency, prevalence, and persistence. EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards are updated regularly based on our research data and metrics and are useful for a wide range of computer users, from end users seeking solutions to remove malware from their systems to security experts analyzing threats.
EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards display a variety of useful information, including:
Ranking: The ranking of a particular threat in EnigmaSoft’s Threat Database.
Severity Level: The determined severity level of an object, represented numerically, based on our risk modeling process and research, as explained in our Threat Assessment Criteria.
Infected Computers: The number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular threat detected on infected computers as reported by SpyHunter.

DOS/Rovnix.gg is a threat that is often classified as a virus or as a Trojan. The fact is that the DOS/Rovnix.gg infection is a type of threat that may try to install other components using rootkit or bootkit techniques. This makes DOS/Rovnix.gg specifically threatening and DOS/Rovnix.gg should be disabled for good with the cooperation of a productive, fully updated anti-malware program. There are numerous variants of DOS/Rovnix.gg. The DOS/Rovnix.gg variant specifically has been associated with Distributed Denial of Service attacks, installing threats that use the infected computer's resources to accomplish these sorts of attacks on vulnerable targets.
Threats Such as DOS/Rovnix.gg are Installed Through Computer's Vulnerabilities
DOS/Rovnix.gg is distributed using a threat that takes advantage of vulnerabilities in Java, for example, when a computer user visits an attack website containing an exploit kit. These types of components search for vulnerabilities in the affected computer (which may be the result of not updating Java or other third party platforms) and then install threats like DOS/Rovnix.gg. DOS/Rovnix.gg may be downloaded and installed by a Trojan downloader, a threat specifically designed to infiltrate a computer and then connect an outside server so it can download, install and execute threats.
One of the most common effects of DOS/Rovnix.gg is to cause the infected computer to crash unexpectedly and repeatedly. This usually happens because that DOS/Rovnix.gg may try to inject threats that take effect when your computer is booting. Due to the nature of this threat, in many instances these infections create the need to reinstall Windows and bring back your data from an external back-up source. Threats like DOS/Rovnix.gg may load during boot time, attempting to tamper with kernel data in order to load threatening driver files which may bypass fundamental security measures in your computer. These types of infections are very good at hiding and protecting themselves from removal and may be out of reach of conventional security software. Once installed, DOS/Rovnix.gg may attempt to download and install other threats such as RATs or banking Trojans.
