ApplicationWork

If you find an application named ApplicationWork on your computer and you didn't install it, it is happening because you downloaded a new software recently, which had ApplicationWork bundled into its installation wizard, clicked on a corrupted advertisement or visited an unsafe website. However, you don't need to be scared. ApplicationWork is deemed as a Possibly Unwanted Program (PUP), and PUPs, by themselves, will not cause any harm to your machine. However, the activities performed by ApplicationWork and similar PUPs can create some unpleasant problems on the computers it infects, as well as to its users. PUPs can change the homepage and the Web browser, no matter if it is Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Chrome, Safari or other ones, and they usually display countless, unwanted advertisements that when clicked may lead the computer users to unsafe websites. ApplicationWork also can collect information about the machine, the computer users browsing habits, visited sites, search queries and share it with related advertisers. Malware researchers point that ApplicationWork can perform some tasks that are inherent to Trojans, such as collect financial data, duplicate files, collect login passwords, record the typed keystrokes, take screenshots and more.

No matter how ApplicationWork is acting on your computer, the recommendation from security researchers is to remove it from an affected computer as soon as it is detected. Another recommendation from security researchers is to remove it with an anti-malware scanner so that any components left behind can be removed too.
