ESG security researchers have detected a fake security application that is going by the name of Advanced Antispyware Solution. This rogue anti-spyware program has been active in 2012, carrying out a fairly typical version of the rogue security program scam. This scam is quite common, and usually involves convincing computer users to purchase a useless security program by scaring them with alarming error messages and misleading PC scans. Advanced Antispyware Solution uses an interface that is quite similar to malware in the FakeVimes family of rogue security programs. This malware threat will usually enter a computer system through a Trojan acquired from an attack website, a malicious email attachment or a corrupted advertisement.
Another common way in which Advanced Antispyware Solution enters a computer system is through online advertisements and pop-up windows alleging that your machine is infected with malware and offering to run a free scan of your computer. Inexperienced computer users may click on these advertisements, allowing criminals to install Advanced Antispyware Solution on their computer without having to jump through hoops to bypass the victim's computer's security measures. ESG malware analysts strongly advise computer users to only download security software from licensed, reputable software manufacturers, and directly from the company's official website. It is never a good idea to agree with the installation of "free" anti-malware software from a pop-up window or online advertisement.
Once installed on the victim's computer system, Advanced Antispyware Solution makes changes to the infected computer's settings that allow Advanced Antispyware Solution to start up automatically when the victim logs into Windows. Then, Advanced Antispyware Solution displays a fake computer scan that will claim that there are various severe malware problems on the victim's computer. Even if the victim closes Advanced Antispyware Solution, this program will pester the computer user constantly with error messages, security alerts and pop-up notifications.
All of these are designed to direct the computer user to Advanced Antispyware Solution's website so that they will purchase a "full version" of Advanced Antispyware Solution. However, since Advanced Antispyware Solution has no real anti-malware capabilities, you should definitely not pay for this useless application. The right course of action is to remove Advanced Antispyware Solution with a reliable, legitimate anti-malware program. Since Advanced Antispyware Solution's family of malware has been around for several years, most competent security programs should be able to deal with an Advanced Antispyware Solution infection with ease.
There are many clones of Advanced Antispyware Solution that include Virus Melt, Presto TuneUp, Fast Antivirus 2009, Extra Antivirus, Windows Security Suite, Smart Virus Eliminator, Packed.Generic.245, Volcano Security Suite, Windows Enterprise Suite, Enterprise Suite, Additional Guard, PC Live Guard, Live PC Care, Live Enterprise Suite, Security Antivirus, My Security Wall, CleanUp Antivirus, Smart Security, Windows Protection Suite, Windows Work Catalyst.
