Windows Premium Shield is a rogue security program that belongs to the FakeVimes family of rogue security software. There are dozens of variants of Windows Premium Shield, all carrying out the same basic scam. One defining characteristic of these programs is that they use the same interface, imitating legitimate security software, but with obvious inconsistencies. Programs like Windows Premium Shield will also use similar naming conventions, often beginning with the string 'Windows' followed by a two word string consisting of a security-related adjective and noun.

Variants that belong to the Windows Premium Shield's family of rogue security software include Virus Melt, Presto TuneUp, Fast Antivirus 2009, Extra Antivirus, Windows Security Suite, Smart Virus Eliminator, Packed.Generic.245, Volcano Security Suite, Windows Enterprise Suite, Enterprise Suite, Additional Guard, PC Live Guard, Live PC Care, Live Enterprise Suite, Security Antivirus, My Security Wall, CleanUp Antivirus, Smart Security, Windows Protection Suite, Windows Work Catalyst.

It is important to note that Windows Premium Shield will not protect your computer from threats. In fact, since Windows Premium Shield is a form of threat itself, Windows Premium Shield is not capable of detecting or removing threats and should be removed at once from the affected computer.

Windows Premium Shield – A Useless Shield

There is nothing different between the Windows Premium Shield and most rogue security programs. The following characteristics are commonly associated with the Windows Premium Shield infection:

  • Windows Premium Shield enters a computer often by using typical threat delivery methods.
  • Once installed, Windows Premium Shield makes changes to the affected computer that allow Windows Premium Shield to run automatically, display bogus system alerts and interfere with other software.
  • Windows Premium Shield will try to persuade PC users that their machines are seriously infected with threats, using a variety of methods. Windows Premium Shield will display fake system alerts, constant alarming pop-up notifications and bogus system scans indicating the presence of numerous threats.
  • Whenever computer users try to use Windows Premium Shield to fix these supposed 'problems', Windows Premium Shield claims that it is necessary to pay for a 'full version' of Windows Premium Shield, which is just as useless as the fake free version of this program. Malware researchers strongly advise against paying for Windows Premium Shield and instead, computer users should remove Windows Premium Shield at once.
