The Wind Blocker advertises itself as a useful browser extension that will save users from all those pesky pop-ups, banners, and other advertisements that appear while browsing. In essence, the application should work as an ad-blocker. Unfortunately, there is one slight problem - it does the exact opposite of what users expect.

Indeed, Wind Blocker is classified as adware and a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program). Adware applications are designed specifically to monetize their presence on the user's computers or devices by generating intrusive advertisements. At the same time, they are classified as PUPs due to the underhanded tactic involved in their distribution. Naturally, users would be extremely reluctant to install such applications on their systems willingly. That is why these dubious programs rely on questionable tactics, such as bundling or fake installers to hide their installation from the user's attention.

The advertisements delivered by adware applications should be approached with caution. By interacting with them, users risk triggering a forced redirect to a suspicious third-party website. There, users might be exposed to phishing schemes, online tactics and more. Adware and PUPs also are known for collecting information, such as the browsing activities of the user and specific device details. The data may be packaged and then uploaded to a remote server under the control of the application's operators.
