Facebook is a wonderful tool that has modified the way Internet works. Arguably, Facebook has done more to attract a wider audience to the Internet than almost everything that came before. However, there is a downside to this new-found Internet access; Facebook is replete with inexperienced computer users that have virtually no online experience outside of Facebook. Sadly, there will always be unscrupulous people willing to prey on those that are less experienced when it comes to computer security. Troj/VB-FRJ is a dangerous malware infection that is designed to infect its victims with the Dorkbot malware. ESG security researchers strongly advise that you educate your coworkers and family members on basic online safety in order to prevent costly and potentially dangerous malware infections.

How Troj/VB-FRJ Scam Works

Most victims of Troj/VB-FRJ will have clicked on a link claiming to lead to a screensaver featuring two blond women (which are depicted on this malicious file's icon). One of the main dangers of Troj/VB-FRJ scam is that Troj/VB-FRJ Trojan is associated with a worm that can spread through Facebook and force an infected account to send out chat messages and post links on its friends' Facebook walls. While many computer users know better than to click on links from unknown sources, Troj/VB-FRJ scam may still claim victims because the link will appear to come from a trusted co-worker or family member that has become infected. After all, when a Facebook friend says hello on chat and then displays a link, usually our first impulse will be to click on the link in order to see what it is about. Because of this, ESG security researchers advise engaging your chatty Facebook friend in a conversation in order to make sure that you are not conversing with a chat bot or an infected computer.

Why You Should Avoid Troj/VB-FRJ

Furthermore, any data on the infected computer is accessible to the criminals behind Troj/VB-FRJ, meaning that sensitive data (such as credit card numbers, banking accounts and email passwords) can all fall into the wrong hands.
