Trojan:Win32/Ransom.FS is a ransomware Trojan that affects computer users in Switzerland. Trojan:Win32/Ransom.FS shows a window that hides the entire desktop of the corrupted machine and asks you to pay for the alleged possession of illegal material. Once installed, Trojan:Win32/Ransom.FS adds malicious files and modifies the system registry so that it can automatically run every time you start Windows starts, even if Windows is restarted in Safe Mode. Trojan:Win32/Ransom.FS shows a full-screen image that conceals all other windows and makes the computer unusable. The image is a fabricated warning that is supposedly sent by a legitimate institution such as the 'Swiss Federal Department of Justice and Police'. It demands the payment of an imaginary fine; however, even if you pay it, the computer will still be left unusable. Trojan:Win32/Ransom.FS queries a legitimate IP address geolocation service to determine the country and the ISP from which the compromised PC is connecting to the Internet. Get rid of Trojan:Win32/Ransom.FS immediately after detection.
