Trojan Nap

By Domesticus in Trojans

Trojan Nap is a Trojan downloader that thwarts anti-virus programs by taking a nap. Trojan Nap attacks financial institutions and covers identities of attackers. Trojan Nap invades the targeted PC under the radar by setting itself to sleep. Many computer security companies use automated analysis systems that watch a sample of whatever happens to be coming into the computer at that point in time and sees if it needs to quarantine anything. This screening process lasts seconds. Trojan Nap stops its execution for 10 minutes, so automated analysis system will time out and will not be able to capture its malicious behavior. Once on the affected computer, Trojan Nap downloads a file called 'newbos2.exe' that is detected as an 'information stealer'. Trojan Nap use the Fast Flux method, which is used by attackers to conceal their location by using numerous IP addresses from all over the world.
