Trojan:HTML/Redirector.AW is a Trojan that propagates as a malicious HTML file through hijacked websites. The file is downloaded into the corrupted machine by another malware threat and is set as the home page of the targeted Internet browser. Trojan:HTML/Redirector.AW strives to divert the victim's web browser to dubious and dangerous websites that encompass malware infections or rogue applications. Trojan:HTML/Redirector.AW also aims at making money from unwanted hits to tricky advertising websites that are designed by attackers to perform click fraud. Sometimes, Trojan:HTML/Redirector.AW may also be distributed through spam email message, bogus multi-media portals, peer-to-peer connections, and social networking websites. When installed on the corrupted machine, Trojan:HTML/Redirector.AW checks for the installed web browser and aims at changing the default home page address so that it is loaded with the infected website. Trojan:HTML/Redirector.AW controls Internet surfing habits of the victim and shows associated online ads. Scammer will make money from click fraud, when the affected PC owner clicks on any of the web-links given.
