Although Stream-trust.xyz has the word trust in its name, users should do anything else but trust the messages found on this dubious website. Indeed, when infosec researchers analyzed the page, they found yet another rogue website trying to exploit the legitimate push notification browser feature for its own means. Like countless other con websites, Stream-trust.xyz also relies on deceptive and click-bait messages to hide its true intentions.
For example, visitors could be presented with messages similar to 'Press 'Allow' to verify, that you are not a robot.' The implication is clear - the site pretends that users must pass a CAPTCHA check to access its content. In reality, by pressing the 'Allow' button, users will be subscribed to the page's push notifications. As a result, Stream-trust.xyz will receive important browser permissions and will become able to deliver numerous, unwanted and intrusive notifications to the affected device.
In most cases, users will start receiving annoying advertisements that may interrupt their normal activities and act as a major disruption. Furthermore, the advertisements may be promoting additional untrustworthy destinations, such as con websites, phishing schemes, shady online betting/gaming platforms, etc. In fact, the moment that users press 'Allow,' they may trigger a forced redirect leading them to such dubious pages. Stream-trust.xyz has been observed to cause redirects to sites running fake giveaway schemes.
