Scandsk.exe

By ESGI Advisor in Trojans

Scandsk.exe is a Trojan dropper, which Internet users install on their PCs when attempting to download a video called 'Emma Watson never seen before home video' about the naked English actress Emma Watson. Internet users get redirected to this fake video by visiting several websites. The web page they are diverted to, appears to be a YouTube page, but, in truth, it's false, with related videos on the left, and fabricated comments below the player. If a PC user clicks on the 'Play' button, or any link on this actual web page, a warning shows up which states that the Flash player is out of date and a new version needs to be installed in order to play the video. The warning is made professionally and seems to be a desktop program with an animated download function, despite being part of the website. The affected PC user is lured into downloading and installing a malicious file called 'scandsk.exe'. If a 'scandsk.exe' file is saved and executed, the Trojan corrupts a machine.
