PWS:HTML/Barfraud.AP is a Trojan that steals passwords by proliferating through an infected website. A phishing website masquerades as an authentic Barclays bank website. PWS:HTML/Barfraud.AP strives to steal private details and online banking information from victims to make an online scam. PWS:HTML/Barfraud.AP is distributed via an unsolicited email, which tricks recipients into filling out their details in a form on a bogus website. PWS:HTML/Barfraud.AP attempt to gain personal information, banking-related data, and credit or debit card details. If a computer users clicks 'submit' or 'update' or a similar button after filling out the form, PWS:HTML/Barfraud.AP transfers the stolen information to a remote server. PWS:HTML/Barfraud.AP can use a fraudulent website, which may use logotypes, images, and layouts copied from a genuine Barclays bank website. The phishing website is an HTML page that is usually hosted on attacked or infected websites, which are used by cybercriminals to dupe computer users into clicking a link in a spam email message. If an online user visits an attacked or corrupted website, he/she can be rerouted to a website that hosts phishing pages that are then recognized as PWS:HTML/Barfraud.AP.
