Pest-Patrol is a malicious rogue anti-spyware program created to trick users into purchasing the full Pest-Patrol version. Pest-Patrol attempts to mislead users into believing that it is actually CA PestPatrol, a legitimate anti-spyware program. Pest-Patrol may be downloaded and installed with the help of Trojans that may have infiltrated the user's computer system through a browser security hole, or via other unconventional and unethical mechanisms. Once installed, Pest-Patrol will generate deceptive notifications of imaginary security and privacy risks to sell its product. Pest-Patrol may also generate system slowdown and instability.
