My-search.com is a fake search engine that is being promoted via a browser hijacker application named FullTab. That is why many users may suddenly notice that their Web browsers are now opening and redirecting to this unfamiliar address mysteriously. Indeed, browser hijackers are distributed through deceptive methods that mask their installation from the user's attention specifically. The reliance on such questionable tactics classifies the application as a PUP(Potentially Unwanted Program).

The FullTab application is capable of affecting the homepage, new tab page and the default search engine settings. It sets all three to open the promoted my-search.com address. Furthermore, while the PUP is still present on the system, it will prevent users from changing the settings back to their original states continuously.

Users should know that fake search engines are incapable of generating results on their own. However, they can redirect the initiated search query to other engines. My-search.com causes a redirect chain that goes through the dubious searchroute-1560352588.us-west-2.elb.amazonaws.com address, before reaching the legitimate search.yahoo.com engine. There are other PUPs and fake engines that cause redirects to searchroute-1560352588.us-west-2.elb.amazonaws.com with some examples being Photorito.me and MacOSDefender.

It is strongly recommended to remove FullTab from your devices as soon as possible or risk having your browsing activities tracked and transmitted to a remote server. PUPs are known for possessing such data-harvesting capabilities with the more unsafe ones even trying to collect debit/credit card details or payment information.
