JustVideoSearch

JustVideoSearch is yet another browser hijacker that aims to infiltrate users' computers and take control over their Web browsers. These applications are most commonly seen in attempts to promote fake or dubious search engines that would otherwise see minimal traffic. JustVideoSearch is no different, as it promotes its own search engine at justvideosearch.com.

Users will notice that the unfamiliar address has now been set as the browser homepage, new tab page and default search engine. This means that simply launching the browser, opening a new tab, or starting a search via the URL bar will open the promoted page immediately. 

Fake engines typically cannot produce results on their own, as they lack such functionality completely. Instead, they rely on a legitimate engine such as Yahoo, Bing, or Google to do the work for them. However, some users may be presented with inaccurate results filled with ad links. 

Browser hijackers have another nasty characteristic - in nearly all cases, these applications are equipped with data-harvesting capabilities. They try to access information, such as the entire browsing and search histories, clicked links, device details, IP address, geolocation and more. The data is transmitted to a remote server, where it could be exploited in a variety of ways ranging from running a targeted advertising campaign to potentially being sold to interested third parties.
