The Frameseek website is a low quality search engine. It includes a large picture of a landscape. Superimposed on this picture is a search box which is supposedly powered by Google. It includes a large message that says 'click here to make this your homepage'. However, this message is often wasted since the majority of visitors to the Frameseek website will already have their homepage changed to Frameseek without their authorization. This is because Frameseek.com is associated with a browser hijacker, an unwanted Web browser extension that causes numerous unwanted symptoms on the victim's computer.
The main symptom of a Frameseek browser hijacker infection is the presence of redirects to this website. This allows shady marketers to increase the traffic to the Frameseek website, allowing them to profit from advertising and sponsored search result schemes. The Frameseek browser hijacker includes components that allow Frameseek to keep track of the websites that you visit, so Frameseek can display advertisements on your computer. Its main payload involves modifying the victim's Web browser so that search engine results redirect to Frameseek instead of to their intended websites. Frameseek affects computers running Windows and seems to affect the most popular Web browsers, including Microsoft's Internet Explorer, Google's Chrome and Mozilla's Firefox.
There are several ways in which Frameseek affects a computer. The most common infection method involves bundling Frameseek with popular freeware programs. This can occur with legitimate freeware programs, which may be bundled with Frameseek by a third party. If you suspect that you have been exposed to a browser hijacker, it is advised to remove the browser hijacker with a reliable anti-virus to perform a full, thorough scan of your computer.
