The Europol Ransomware infection is a Trojan that criminals use to steal money from inexperienced computer users. The main goal of this malware infection is to make computer users believe that they have been targeted by a Europol operation and that they are in danger of imprisonment unless they pay a fine. Most ransomware Trojans carry out similar scams, displaying fake messages from the police in an effort to scam inexperienced computer users. If your computer is blocked due to a message from the Europol Ransomware infection, it is important to remember that this Trojan infection has absolutely nothing to do with the real European police and is actually part of a malware scam. Rather than following the instructions that appear in the Europol Ransomware message, ESG security analysts strongly encourage PC users to utilize a reliable anti-malware program to remove this ransomware Trojan instead.

To scam their victims, the criminals responsible for the Europol Ransomware Trojan block access to the infected computer by displaying a full screen message claiming to be associated to the Europol. This message is displayed by a Trojan infection that is typically distributed using social engineering channels. The Europol Ransomware Trojan also blocks access to all files, applications and system components on the victim’s computer. Typically, when the computer user starts up Windows, rather than the Desktop, the Europol Ransomware message is displayed, with no way to remove it or bypass it. The Europol Ransomware message is typical of these kinds of scams, threatening the victim with jail time and accusing the victim of intellectual property and pornographic crimes. Most Europol Ransomware attacks are concentrated in Western Europe, although there are variants of these ransomware Trojans that attack computers from all around the world.

The main fact about the Europol Ransomware message is that the Europol Ransomware has no official association with the Europol. Most PC users will find that the hardest aspect of removing this ransomware Trojan is bypassing its malicious message in order to gain access to security software on the infected computer. Windows permits computer users to start up in Safe Mode and to access the Command Prompt. In this way, it is possible to access the Windows Registry or your security software in order to remove the Trojan infection responsible for the Europol Ransomware attack.
