Captcharesolver[dot]com Pop-up Notifications

By CagedTech in Browser Hijackers, Adware

Captcharesolver[dot]com is the name of a suspicious website containing no content other than a small pop-up prompting you to agree to get notifications about sponsored content while browsing the Web. A classic adware tool, Captcharesolver[dot]com also borrows some features from browser hijackers to make this sponsored content as visible (and intrusive) as possible.

The guys who created the Captcharesolver[dot]com website supposedly earn a commission whenever a PC user clicks on a link touted by their site. It’s a classic pay-per-click scheme that has existed for a long time and has served as the go-between connecting businesses and prospective customers on the Web. However, it’s not clear how exactly you may have landed on Captcharesolver[dot]com if you’ve never typed it in your browser, and that’s the problem.

As soon as you have opened Captcharesolver[dot]com and allowed its notifications, the site starts churning out geographically-oriented ads, banners, and redirects. Some of them may be harmless, while others may lead to suspicious places laden with all sorts of malware. The outcome is often unpredictable. Nor are the dangers you may come across.

Based on the aforementioned characteristics, Captcharesolver[dot]com may be considered a Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA) no one would wish to have. Yet, if your browser continually redirects you to Captcharesolver[dot]com, you may take measures to get rid of its presence.
