Browsebit is a PUP, or Potentially Unwanted Program, that is developed by a company well known for developing these types of adware infections: SuperWeb LLC. Browsebit is very similar to numerous other potentially compromised Web browser plug-ins designed to deliver advertisements and hijack victims' Web browsers. In most cases, Browsebit is distributed by bundling Browsebit with low quality freeware contained in low quality download websites. Although Browsebit is marketed as a way to make your online experience more efficient, Browsebit may cause a variety of problems on the affected Web browser in an effort to expose computer users to marketing material. One worrying aspect of Browsebit is that Browsebit may track your online activity and expose your Web browser to potentially harmful online content.

The Annoying Advertisements Displayed by Browsebit
Once Browsebit has been installed, Browsebit forces your Web browser to exhibit numerous and various kinds of advertisements, including banners, in-text advertisements and pop-up windows. Browsebit may log information about your computer and about your browsing habits and send this information to a third party or use it for marketing research and to deliver advertisements to your Web browser. Computer users affected by Browsebit will notice numerous advertisements reading 'Browsebit Ads', 'Browsebit Deals' or 'Powered by Browsebit'. Browsebit is nearly identical to PUPs such as Storimbo or BrowseSmart. It is important to note that Browsebit is not threatening and is not considered a high-level threat like a Trojan. Although Browsebit may cause numerous problems that can be just as irritating as those caused by harmful components, Browsebit is easier to remove than most threats and is not as destructive.
Getting Back to Your Normal Browsing
If Browsebit is installed on your Web browser, security researchers strongly recommend that computer users uninstall Browsebit immediately. In most cases, Browsebit can be uninstalled using normal means. However, since Browsebit may expose your computer to potentially harmful content, malware researchers recommend following the removal of Browsebit with a full scan with a reliable anti-malware application. Once removed, malware researchers recommend undoing any unwanted changes to your Web browser settings, such as restoring your Web browser's default search engine and homepage.
