BO DLL

By GoldSparrow in Trojans

BO DLL is a malicious program that hackers use to steal password information and other personal data. Specifically, BO DLL is a kind of keylogger. This means that BO DLL has the capacity to track any keystrokes on the infected computer. BO DLL also contains components that can isolate and keep track of potential passwords for online accounts, banking account information and credit card numbers. BO DLL can then save this information into a text file (with the .txt extension) and send it to the hacker through email or by connecting to an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) server. According to ESG malware researchers, the presence of BO DLL is usually accompanied with a severe Trojan infection.

How Does a Computer System Become Infected with BO DLL?

There are several ways that a computer system can become infected with the BO DLL keylogger:

  • One of the most common ways in which a computer system can become infected with the BO DLL keylogger is through spam email attachments or emails from an infected computer. These attachments usually contain a computer worm or Trojan that then installs malware like the BO DLL keylogger. To avoid an infection via spam email, ESG security researchers recommend exercising extreme caution when opening email and email attachments from unknown senders or from unexpected sources.
  • The BO DLL is also installed on an infected computer system with the aid of a dropper Trojan. These kinds of Trojans are specifically crafted to install malware onto a computer system. Common sources for Trojans associated with the BO DLL keylogger include fake codec downloads on adult video websites, fake media players on streaming movie websites and fake popular files on Torrents or peer-to-peer file sharing networks. To avoid this kind of infection, ESG malware analysts recommend downloading software only from reputable sources and taking extra precautions when browsing unsafe websites like file sharing communities or adult video galleries.
  • A hacker may also directly install the BO DLL keylogger with the help of a backdoor Trojan or a RAT (Remote Access Tool). A backdoor Trojan is a Trojan that can open a hole in a computer system's security. A hacker can then use this opening to control a computer system from afar or install malicious programs onto the infected computer. A Remote Access Tool does exactly what its name implies: it allows a hacker to access your computer from a remote location. This kind of malicious software allows a hacker to install software like the BO DLL keylogger, in order to steal your money, sensitive information and online passwords.
