Adware:MSIL/SanctionedMedia is a malicious adware program that shows pop-up advertisements on the compromised PC’s screen while you surf the Internet. Adware:MSIL/SanctionedMedia is not browser-specific and different types of web browsers can be hijacked by this PC infection. Adware:MSIL/SanctionedMedia comes bundled with screensavers, so, at first, it might seem to be a genuine program. Adware:MSIL/SanctionedMedia installs itself without the computer user knowing about it. Adware:MSIL/SanctionedMedia actually has an installation wizard that the PC user has to go through. Your PC will most likely get corrupted by Adware:MSIL/SanctionedMedia if you download screensavers from sexy-screen-saver.com. Once Adware:MSIL/SanctionedMedia is installed, it adds a RUN key into the registry so that it can run automatically each time you boot up your Windows. Adware:MSIL/SanctionedMedia is able to monitor the affected computer user’s Internet surfing activities and then bombards his/her desktop with pop-up advertisements. Adware:MSIL/SanctionedMedia is also able to monitor all the website addresses that you type in the web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Opera, Netscape, Chrome and Firefox. Adware:MSIL/SanctionedMedia connects to a remote server and forwards the data which includes visited websites, personal identification information like your logins and passwords, PC user IDs, operating system information and adware details.
