Ultimate Antivirus 2008 Description
Ultimate Antivirus 2008 is a rogue anti-spyware program, clone of Antivirus 2008. Corrupt Ultimate Antivirus 2008 may be installed in the user’s computer system with the help of Trojans (Zlob or Vundo) disguised as video codecs, through browser security holes. After installed, Ultimate Antivirus 2008 will scan the user’s computer system and display a fake list of supposed infections. Ultimate Antivirus 2008 may generate misleading warning alerts and popups to scare the user in an attempt to sell the full Ultimate Antivirus 2008 commercial program. Once a user clicks on a rogue message, Ultimate Antivirus 2008 will redirect the user to Ultimate Antivirus 2008’s website (www.UAV2008.com), where the full version of the program is sold. Ultimate Antivirus 2008 is not a solution to the threats it alleges to remove. Ultimate Antivirus 2008 is the threat itself. In addition, Ultimate Antivirus 2008 may cause vulnerabilities to the user’s computer system, allowing third parties to access user’s personal and financial information. Ultimate Antivirus 2008 may also generate system slowdown, instability and may be difficult to remove manually.
RegistryCare Description
RegistryCare is a rogue registry cleaner application designed to scare the user with fake spyware or registry errors into purchasing the RegistryCare program. Once installed, RegistryCare emulates a computer system scan and will display notifications of imaginary security and privacy risks. Once a notification is clicked, the user will be redirected to the RegistryCare website where RegistryCare may be downloaded to clean the supposed threats. These scare tactics are only used by RegistryCare to sell its product. RegistryCare may also collect user’s relevant information and send it to remote hackers for illegal purposes. RegistryCare may generate system slowdown and instability. RegistryCare can be extremely difficult to manually remove.
SaferScan Description
SaferScan is an anti-porn program. SaferScan is usually downloaded and installed by a Trojan, through browser security holes, or other dubious mechanisms. Once SaferScan is installed, it produces exaggerated false detections of threats to push the user to purchase a registered SaferScan program to remove the supposed threats. SaferScan may also install additional adware and spyware on the user’s computer system. SaferScan may generate system slowdown and instability.
CrisysTec Sentry 3.0 Description
CrisysTec Sentry 3.0, CrisysTecSentry or Crisys Tec Sentry, is a rogue anti-spyware application and may be a re branded version of BraveSentry. CrisysTec Sentry 3.0 is usually downloaded by a Trojan through browser security holes or manually downloaded by the gullible user from CrisysTec Sentry 3.0’s website (www.CrisysTecSentry.com). Once CrisysTec Sentry 3.0 is installed, it launches on Windows startup and may display notifications of imaginary security and privacy risks. CrisysTec Sentry 3.0 may also generate exaggerated system scans with bogus scan results to push the user to buy its product. CrisysTec Sentry 3.0 pretends to find and remove privacy violations on the user’s computer when CrisysTec Sentry 3.0 is itself the privacy violator. In addition, CrisysTec Sentry 3.0 may download and install additional spyware on the user’s computer system.
MalwarePatrolPro Description
MalwarePatrolPro or Malware Patrol Pro, is a rogue anti-spyware application. MalwarePatrolPro attempts to trick gullible users who are in search of a spyware solution into purchasing the full version of the program. MalwarePatrolPro may be installed with the help of a Trojan infection from a fake video codec from infected web-sites or from MalwarePatrolPro’s website (www.malwarepatrolpro.com). If installed, MalwarePatrolPro may display fake popup alerts and exaggerated threat scan results only to harass internet users and push them into buying the full MalwarePatrolPro program.
Red Handed Description
Red Handed is an invisible keylogger designed to monitor all user activities on a computer. Red Handed is known by employers and parents for legitimate purposes, however, hackers may use Red Handed to break upon the user’s privacy. Red Handed records keystrokes, log all visited websites, takes screenshots, tracks online conversations (AOL, Yahoo and MSN Instant Messages), and more. Red Handed may save this information locally (in an encrypted file) or sent it to a remote hacker for malicious purposes. Red Handed may be a threat to the user’s financial and personal information.
