Computer hackers and cybercrooks are constantly on the hunt to steal your information or make you the next victim of an online crime in some shape or form. In recent unfortunate events on the Internet, actress and comedian Leslie Jones's official website was hacked to display her private documents and nude photographs of her. After discovering the hacking incident, Jones' official site, justleslie.com, was taken down and redirected to a parked 404 page.

Leslie Jones is known for her tall-statured presence on the big screen and featured in the new Ghostbusters movie. She has a rather large following on social media in addition to her fan base surrounding her many TV and movie appearances.

The recent hack on Jones' website has resulted in frustration from the shocking racism and sexism against her as an African-American woman in the entertainment limelight. Not only was her official site hacked, but Jones has continually received hateful messages over Twitter and other social outlets clearly against her appearance and outgoing personality.

Before the hack, Jones received a barrage of racist remarks throughout social media. Once the hack took place, which is believed to coincide with a hack on Jones's iCloud account, her driver's license image, private documents, and nude photographs were shared on the site. Experts believe that the documents and images were obtained from her iCloud account. Additionally, the defacement of Jones' site included images of her next to the gorilla, Harambe, which was a victim of being shot due to a kid falling into his Zoo enclosure – evident of how low hackers will step to promote hate.

The Jones' hacking incident isn't the first time we have seen a high profile individuals being attacked on multiple fronts over the Internet. There have been countless cases where entertainers, prime ministers, and even the CIA site was attacked at one time.

Just before the attack on Jones' official website, the actor took to Twitter to retweet and comment on a flood of racists comments and memes that mentioned her. As a response, Twitter took it upon themselves to ban several accounts from their network in an effort to kick off a new anti-abuse measure, which is said to be running in the weeks to come.

Hackers can make the Internet a cruel place at the drop of a dime. Moreover, hackers can turn someone's world upside down as they have with Leslie Jones, which those actions are explained by her many fans and supporters as being sickening, racist, and sexist.

In the midst of what has happened to Leslie Jones, we must all be mindful that information that we share or transmit over the Internet isn't 100% safe. While the perpetrators are not known in the Jones hacking case, we can all take away how vulnerable we are in utilizing the Internet and entrusting our personal information to supposedly secure places.
