TR/Sirefef.AG.9 is a Trojan with Sirefef rootkit functionalities that can access the corrupted PC secretly via social networks, freeware, shareware, infected websites, spam email attachments, and can come packaged with other malware infections. TR/Sirefef.AG.9 may be associated with rogue anti-spyware applications and used to distribute counterfeit security programs. TR/Sirefef.AG.9 may display disturbing pop-up ads on the desktop of the affected computer. TR/Sirefef.AG.9 may gather information about the victim's online actions by retrieving logs from the Windows Registry and browser history. The gathered information may be then sent to a distant server controlled by cybercrooks. TR/Sirefef.AG.9 may be also able to cause unwanted redirects to suspicious websites on the hacked Internet browser.
