WinDefender2008 Description

Spyware Image
WinDefender2008 or WinDefender 2008, is a rogue anti-spyware program similar to other popular rogue anti-spyware programs. WinDefender2008 is usually installed by a Trojan called Zlob through browser security breaches or other fraudulent mechanisms. Once WinDefender2008 is installed, it will emulate a computer system scan and generates false warning messages stating that WinDefender2008 has detected a large amount of spyware:

“Computer scan results: 284 items detected
NOTE: Detected objects marked in red are CRITICAL and should be removed from the computer!”

“WARNING!!!

Current threats detect by WinDefender 2008 today.
This information is provided based on current threat level and internet user’s database. WinDefender is trying to detected and remove all items.”

Once a notification is clicked, the user will be redirected to WinDefender2008’s website (www.win-defender.com) that promotes WinDefender2008’s rogue software to clean the supposed threats. These scare tactics are only used by WinDefender2008 to sell its product. WinDefender2008 may also generate system slowdown and instability. WinDefender2008 launches every time Windows is booted and may be difficult to manually remove.

PC Clean Pro Description

PC Clean Pro or PCClean Pro, is a rogue anti-spyware program created to compromise user’s computer system. PC Clean Pro is usually downloaded and installed onto the user’s computer system by a Trojan through browser security weaknesses. Once PC Clean Pro is installed, it will display false error messages stating that the user’s computer is at risk:

“WARNING - YOUR PRIVACY IS AT RISK!

PC Clean Pro has detected 358 unwanted and compromising items on your computer. These items are very likely to jeopardize your privacy. You must clean your PC now.

You need to register PC Clean Pro to clean compromising and personal items found. Click the “Register Now” button below to obtain the license key and remove useless or unwanted material from your PC.”

These messages are meant to scare the user into purchasing the full PC Clean Pro program. PC Clean Pro promotes the full PC Clean Pro version of the program, claiming to be able to remove the supposed threats. PC Clean Pro may seem legit, however, it’s just another malicious scam. As soon as PC Clean Pro performs it’s fake system scan, it may display an exaggerated scan report that may read:

“SCAN REPORT

Scan Result: 358 COMPROMISSING AND USELESS FILES FOUND
PC Clean Pro has finished the system scan.”

PC Clean Pro may also generate system slowdowns and instability.

Real Antispyware’s notifications of non-existing infections may state:

“Warning

These messages are an attempt to trick users into buying the full Real Antispyware program to remove the supposed threats. In addition, Real Antispyware may prompt a large number of fake popups. Real Antispyware’s exaggerated reports may cause computer system slowdowns and even instability.
