Security researchers alert users of the MediaPlayVid browser plug-in that it is recognized as adware and may load sponsored results on Google that are links to harmful websites and phishing pages. The MediaPlayVid adware-powered plug-in may have been offered to users in free software packages on suspicious software distribution platforms. The MediaPlayVid adware may be promoted as an app that can improve the quality of videos you watch on the Internet. However, it will not act as promised because mediaPlayVid is coded to load different forms of ads in your browser. The MediaPlayVid adware may present infected users with pop-up and pop-under windows loaded with marketing content, banners, and floating ad-boxes. Also, the MediaPlayVid adware may monitor what sites you visit by reading your browsing history and using session cookies. The MediaPlayVid adware may display coupons, discounts and limited-time offers from untrusted online stores on reputable e-commerce portals like eBay and Amazon. The MediaPlayVid adware may use pop-ups to advertise riskware like Tarma, Verti and WebProtect in when you visit software related websites to earn pay-per-click revenue. Moreover, there are cases where adware such as the MediaPlayVid plug-in have been used to spread rogue security tools like Wind Optimizer and Windows 7 Recovery. The aforementioned programs are used by scammers to scare users with fake security alerts into paying handsome fees. The MediaPlayVid adware may not appear on your plug-in manager and 'Control Panel' because of a modification of your Windows registry. The MediaPlayVid adware may have placed its files in the hidden Temp folder to evade early detection and obstruct manual removal. However, you could use a credible anti-spyware solution to clean your system and avoid rogueware.
